How a Wi-Fi QR Code Works
The QR code encodes a small, standardized string in the format WIFI:T:WPA;S:NetworkName;P:Password;;. Every modern phone — iOS 11+, Android 10+, recent Samsung, Pixel, Xiaomi devices — recognizes this pattern automatically. Scanning it shows a one-tap "Join Network" prompt.
What You Need
- Network name (SSID) — exactly as it appears in your Wi-Fi list, case-sensitive.
- Password — the password attendees would normally type.
- Encryption type — almost always WPA/WPA2 for modern routers; WEP for very old ones; or "no password" for open guest networks.
Step-by-Step
- Open our Wi-Fi QR generator and the Wi-Fi tab is pre-selected.
- Type the exact SSID. Special characters and spaces are fine.
- Type the password. We do not transmit, store, or send it anywhere — it stays in your browser.
- Choose encryption (default WPA covers 99% of modern routers).
- Optionally customize colors and add your logo.
- Download the SVG and print it — frame it on a wall, drop it on a coffee table, or include it in your welcome PDF.
Best Places to Use a Wi-Fi QR Code
- Cafes and restaurants — printed on a small table sign next to the menu.
- Hotels and Airbnb — laminated card on the desk or in the welcome book.
- Office reception — "Guest Wi-Fi" framed at the front desk.
- Co-working spaces — printed on member welcome packs.
- Wedding and event venues — included on table cards so guests can share photos instantly.
Privacy Note
Because everything happens in your browser, the SSID and password you enter never leave your device. We have no server endpoint that receives this data. After you close the tab, no copy remains anywhere.
